Well, I wrote about the cathedral in the last post, but have to say that having spent a few days here, by far the most impressive thing about Toul is its fortified ramparts - largely intact, apart from some enlarged gates for modern traffic.
John, of John and Lynda fame, keeps talking about Vauban.. and now I understand... very impressive fortifications designed by him and dating from 1700, completely surround the town , built of dressed white stone,topped with grass, and in places over 5 metres high, and largely moated.
